How to Get a Library Card

Patrons must come into the library and fill out  a Borrower's Application. Library cards are issued free of charge. Birthdate and driver's license or State I.D. are required on application forms. The person whose signature is on the card application is responsible for all materials borrowed from the library under that library card number according to the polcies of the lending library. Applicants under 18 years of age must have parent or guardian sign the application form. Cards expire every year to verify information. Library cards will be honored at any of the 30 Merlin Libraries in Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron, Sawyer, Vilas and Washburn Counties. How to Request Materials

Merlin is the shared catalog of NWLS member libraries. With a library card, patrons can directly request, renew, and check the status of items either checked out or on hold.

How to Use the Internet

High Speed Internet and WiFi

The Presque Isle Library has 9 public computer stations. Each station is equipped with high speed internet access, and networked to a black and white printer, and a color printer. To use a computer, please check in at the Circulation Desk. Each station may have 45 minutes uninterrupted time, and if there is no one waiting, there is no time limit. When all 9 computer stations are in use, we do have a laptop which can be checked out for inhouse use.

We also offer WiFi. So, please feel free to bring in your laptops, and make yourself comfortable in any one of our reading nooks. We have electrical outlets available as well as lap trays to hold your computers. We keep our WiFi router on 24/7. For your convenience, when the library is closed you can log on to the Wifi in the front parking lot, or on a bench in the community garden.
