Artist of the Month

The Presque Isle Community Library is proud to support art in our community.  Each month the work of one or more artists is displayed in the library.

Artist for July/August-Amanda Szot & Ann Vanderbyl

Amanda Szot is an artist from Ironwood, Michigan with a Fine Art-Sculpture degree from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Dancing Raven ArtWorks is the name of her studio and gallery, where visitors can often find her working on sculptures or jewelry. She teaches beaded jewelry and art classes for all ages at her studio, which is also a bead and jewelry supply store. Amanda enjoys working with metal, stone, wood, beads and paper to make artwork inspired by the landscape, wildlife and history of the Northwoods and Lake Superior region.Stop in to see her beautiful and unique art!

Artist Ann Vanderbyl, of Presque Isle, is a graduate of California College of Art with a Masters Degree from School of the Art Institute Chicago. She was a graphic designer and K-12 art teacher. Ann uses charcoal, graphite and acrylic to create images. She is drawn to interpreting the natural environment - landscapes, waterscapes, skyscapes - in a graphic, somewhat abstract style. Many works are high contrast black and white; some include a limited palette of color. Stop in at the library to see her amazing work!
